About

From field operations to data engineering.

I did not come into tech through a purely academic path. Before software, I spent nearly a decade in water infrastructure environments where uptime, traceability, and disciplined execution were part of daily work.

What shapes my approach

I care about systems that stay reliable under real-world pressure.

That operational background shapes how I think about data engineering: ingestion should be dependable, monitoring should be actionable, and pipelines should support real operational decisions.

During my studies, I moved into software development and specialized in data-oriented systems. My final project at Sonaca gave me practical experience with live telemetry, MQTT messaging, industrial security constraints, and the realities of building usable interfaces around streaming machine data.

Real-time industrial monitoring at Sonaca

August 2024 - August 2025 · Gosselies, Belgium

Designed and built an industrial monitoring application connected to Siemens BFC Gateway telemetry through MQTT, turning live machine messages into structured data for dashboards and operator visibility.

The application handled sub-second telemetry updates, maintained recent machine state, supported alerting against configurable thresholds, and validated historical records through SQL queries against AVEVA Historian.

The project also required collaboration across IT, maintenance, IoT, and cybersecurity teams in an industrial environment shaped by IEC-62443 security constraints.

What I built

  • Asynchronous in-memory model for latest machine values
  • Fallback logic to preserve last-known values during connection loss
